My earliest recollection was playing on one of the many bomb sites in the middle of Manchester Aged 3, part of a row of terraced houses still illuminated by gas lamps in the early 50’s.Youngest of four children at that time, and we lived on the streets for the best part of the time and developed a good immune system that along with my mothers swift application of the scrubbing brush and carbolic soap to any grazed knees or elbows ensured we had a robust early life.
It was a very interesting and adventurous early childhood and my parents never spared the rod
